Boost Your Lash Business Ranking in Google for Free - The Easiest Way to DIY Your Lash SEO

"SEO", "Client Avatar", "Target Audience" 📊💡 - At one point, I swear, I thought my head would explode if just one more person mentioned these terms to me while I was struggling to build my clientele. It felt like everyone had this advice that was supposed to be straightforward, but for me, I just couldn't wrap my head around it. The fear of not being able to attract enough clients, or the right kind of clients, can be overwhelming. You're not alone. Many lash artists find themselves lost, not knowing how to effectively use SEO or define their target audience to grow their business.

Well, I want to give it to you straight. I did the hard work and learned the hard way, so you don't have to. The most important thing to remember for SEO is trust-based ranking. Google needs to believe that your website is credible, and that credibility is impacted by the content on your website. One of the easiest ways to boost your SEO is through your website. You can do this on your own if you have access to make edits and additions to your site.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Create a new page on your site.

Choose the service in your menu that you want to promote first. You are going to make this page all about that one service! Explain what the service is, who it’s best for, and the results that the client can expect from it. Make sure you write in a way that’s professional and grammatically correct, but also shows a bit of your personality - no one wants to book an appointment with a robot!

  2. Include lots of keywords and mention your location.

If you’re near San Diego, like me, you’d want to write a sentence that includes “best lash extension training in San Diego” and the sentence could be something like, “We offer the best lash extension training in San Diego, CA.” or “Our lash training in San Diego is the best and comes with a full lash extension kit for use on up to 50 models, and access to career-building consulting afterward.) You want to make sure that when people are searching for a service, Google thinks you’re the best website to put up for them because you have so much detail about the service and location on the page.

  3. Add content. You can add photos and/or videos. If you don’t have any photos of the specific service, you can add photos of the treatment room, or get creative and add a stock photo of a local landmark. I’m near the beach, so I added a photo of a local popular sign that will resonate with people in my community.

  4. Add a CTA button. If you want to book more of this service, add a “Book Now” button that links directly to book the service, don’t link the booking page with all of your services. You want the reader to have to use as few clicks and steps as possible to get to the point of showing up for the service. The fewer steps, the better the customer experience. The better the experience, the more likely they will return again. This is the first and easiest step you can take to start increasing your lash business's online ranking.

If you want to learn more, I’ll tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to make sure that your SEO is attracting the type of clients you want. Keep Your Lash Business Ready: The easiest way to Being Fully Booked With Lash Clients Year-Round ✨

You don't have to get ready if you stay ready! The last few years, this has been my motto. I noticed that consistently I'd be invited to something, but I wouldn't go because my hair wasn't done, I was in need of getting my nails filled in, or maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. But, I was missing out on so many chances to create connections with others. And who knows, I probably missed out on a lot of opportunities too!

Not too long after a few missed encounters, I realized that I didn't have to let things like that stop me. No, I didn't just accept being raggedy, but I decided to get my life on a schedule. If I kept up with the things that I cared about, then they wouldn't fall behind, and I've done the same for my business. If you look ahead and stay ready, then you won't have to get ready.

One of the biggest things that I hear other lash artists complain about is not having enough clients or having slow seasons. While this is the nature of the beauty business, it doesn't mean that you have to accept that for your beauty business!

So, the simplest tip to making sure that your lash business is always ready and fully booked with lash clients, is by pre-booking clients. Many lash artists struggle with the feast-or-famine cycle of the beauty industry, facing slow seasons that can significantly impact their income.

I have a very simple and effective strategy on how to get clients to pre-book their appointments. This approach has helped me keep my books full year-round, and I'm eager to share it with those who aspire to achieve the same success.

Imagine having a lash business that thrives all year long, with a steady stream of clients who appreciate your work and keep coming back. By implementing these strategies, you can achieve financial stability and the freedom to focus on what you love doing most.

Don't let slow seasons dictate the success of your lash business. If you're ready to keep your appointment book full with lash clients and say goodbye to financial instability, schedule a call with me!

Growing A Lash Business: How to Attract Clients (Loyal Clients) and Thrive in the Beauty Industry

What if I told you that I built the bulk of my lash clientele from Groupon? And, what if I told you that they were the types of lash clients that tipped well, pre-booked, and even recommended their friends?!

🌟 Stay away from Groupon! I know, I hear it all the time too, and I've been hearing it for over 10 years now. But, what if I told you that I built the bulk of my lash clientele from Groupon? And, what if I told you that they were the types of lash clients that tipped well, pre-booked, and even recommended their friends?! Yeah, I would find it hard to believe too if it wasn't my own story.

The lesson from this is that it doesn't matter WHERE you show up; it's about HOW you show up! If your lash business has the vibe that attracts the right person, then they will come to you! If you're finding that you're attracting lash clients that are rude, unreliable, or even worse - they ask for discounts, then that means that your messaging is off and your business has a negative aura... we can't have that!

So, if you want to understand where you may have gaps in how your lash business is showing up and how you can improve the message that it's giving off, DM me and I'll give your lash business an audit. Everyone needs a pair of fresh eyes and constructive direction from a mentor or consultant, and here's your chance.

👁️‍🗨️ Are you an aspiring lash artist worried about how you'll get clients when you start doing lashes and become a lash artist? I offer in-person lash extension training in San Diego, CA that also includes lash business building support with resources. I also offer business consulting for lash artists and beauty professionals.

  1. Engage in personalized consulting sessions designed to map out your journey and set milestones.

  1. Benefit from my in-person lash extension training or ongoing consulting support to lay a strong foundation for your lash business.

Choosing this route means you're not just avoiding the common pitfalls associated with less comprehensive lash training but also gaining access to a private educational Facebook group filled with further tips, tricks, and assistance for building your lash career. My consulting approach is centered on providing you with direct, actionable steps rather than the often vague advice like other coaches often do.

Mastering Your Beauty Business: Financial Foundations for Lash Artists and New Estheticians

Reagan Ashley, a licensed esthetician and master lash artist with over a decade of experience, provides guidance for new estheticians in building a successful lash business. Emphasizing the importance of customer service, business growth strategies, and financial foundations, she introduces an hourly wage calculator to help beauty professionals strategize their earnings. By calculating personal expenses and working hours, estheticians can ensure they meet their financial goals. The video encourages viewers to establish a personal budget and utilize the free wage calculator to build a financially thriving lash business.

What's good, lash money makers? Reagan Ashley here, ready to help you create some lash money magic. With over a decade of lash application experience as a licensed esthetician and lash artist, I've dedicated my career to consulting and educating estheticians and beauty professionals like you. My personalized, hands-on approach as a lash business consultant, is customized to fit your needs and empower you to build a thriving beauty business.

Emphasizing Customer Service and Business Growth

Beyond mastering your technical skills as a lash artist, it's crucial to focus on delivering top-notch customer service and developing robust business growth strategies. My goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to become a successful lash money maker. I want you to make so much money doing lashes so that you can enjoy the lifestyle you desire, without living paycheck to paycheck.

Building a Strong Financial Foundation

Now that you're ready to grow your esthetician business or expand your lash clientele, let's talk about financial foundations. Excellent customer service and detailed techniques are essential to keep your clients coming back. However, without a strong financial foundation, you won't be able to consistently scale your career as a service provider and achieve your financial goals. We all need the basics like food, water, and a place to live. But, what about the extras like vacations, shopping, or buying nice things? You definitely don't want to get stuck living paycheck to paycheck. You might even want to save for big things like a new car, a house, or retirement.

Understanding Your Worth as a Licensed Professional: The Bare Minimum Hourly Wage

Starting with knowing your bare minimum hourly wage, you can strategically plan and feel in control of your finances. To find this out, I created an hourly wage calculator. Once you know the wage you need to earn hourly as a lash artist or beauty pro, it’ll be easier to decide which job offers to accept, which to pass on, and how to price your services if you work for yourself. Knowing your worth ensures that you’re getting the amount of money you deserve for all of the hard work and training you’ve put in, allowing you to live the lifestyle you want. The hourly wage calculator is a straightforward spreadsheet that considers your bills (expenses), the number of vacation weeks you want, the ideal days you wish to work per week, and down to the number of hours per day.

Creating a Personal Budget First

First, you'll need to create a personal budget if you don't already have one. Comment "budget" below if this is something you need from me, and I'll add it to my list of free business building tools. Once you know your personal monthly expenses, you'll divide this amount by the number of days you can work per month, the days per week, and again by the number of hours you plan to work per day. If math isn't your strong suit, you can use my free hourly wage calculator (linked below) and plug in all the necessary information to get the numbers you need.

Starting as a Small Esthetician, Growing a Big Beauty Business

Remember, if you want to grow big and have a clientele that supports a financially thriving life, you must start small with calculated, detailed steps. You cannot have a strong financial foundation in your beauty career if you don't know how much money you need to keep the lights on. Visit my homepage to access the free hourly wage calculator and share this valuable resource with your beauty pro friends. Knowing your financial needs is the first step towards building a successful beauty business. Thank you so much for reading this blog post! I hope you found it helpful. Stay tuned for more tips and strategies to elevate your lash artistry and beauty business.

Make Your Lash Extensions Stay on Even Longer with This 1 Tip

The easiest way to make sure your lashes stay put for as long as possible is to make sure that your lash artist has a clean base to work with - that means squeaky clean lashes that are free of oils, dirt, and makeup; with no barriers to prevent the adhesive from creating a strong bond with the lash extensions.

Hey there!

It's time for some expert advice on how to keep your lash extensions looking great for as long as possible! You might be thinking, "I've heard this before" or "I had no idea!" but either way, this is a game-changer.

To make sure your extensions stay put until your natural lashes shed during their normal growth cycles, you need to start with a clean base. That means no oils, dirt, dead skin, or makeup on your lashes.

This is where our Prolong lash shampoo comes in handy!

It's gentle, doesn't sting, and is specially formulated for your lashes.

Here’s how it works: At the start of your appointment we'll use a soft, flat brush (similar to an eyeshadow brush) to get rid of any debris between your lashes and brush away any excess oils or makeup on your lids.

Once we've shampooed and brushed your lashes, we'll rinse everything off with warm distilled water. This also helps to open up the cuticle of your lash hairs, making it even easier for the adhesive bond to work its magic.

This add-on service is only $10 and comes with a new brush for you to use at home. You can add it online when you book or you can ask your lash artist for a lash shampoo at the beginning of your appointment.

To see and feel the magic for yourself, for the month of May, we’re offering a complimentary lash shampoo at the start of every appointment!

By following this expert tip, you'll enjoy fuller, more beautiful lashes that last longer than ever before. Say goodbye to falling lashes and hello to lashes that keep you feeling confident all the time!

Brow Lamination: STILL the hottest trend for brows in 2022

Bursting on the scene in 2020 as one of the hottest brow trends, brow lamination still holds the title in 2022. Big, bold, fluffy brows are here to stay! They’re a great way to make a statement, effortlessly.

So, what is brow lamination? Brow lamination is a three step chemical treatment applied to the brow hair to take out any kinks, curls, or texture. It re-shapes the hair into a more refined, lifted, and smooth shape.

How long does brow lamination last? It can last 6-8 weeks depending on the aftercare. Using a daily keratin conditioner will make your hair healthier, happier, and give you a longer lasting, better looking, brow lamination.

It’s a great alternative to microblading as it’s non-invasive and has a much cheaper price tag.

Your favorite esti,

Britt :)

The Eyelash Growth Cycle

Ever wonder what your eyelash growth cycle is? Do you ever wonder why your eyelashes fall out? Well, did you know that every two weeks, a person can lose 20% of their natural lashes on average?

Your eyelashes are always in one of three phases; Anagen (Active Growth), Catagen (Transition), or Telogen (Shedding).

Phase 1- Anagen (Active Growth) Phase

:

The Anagen phase, or the active growth phase, is where your eyelashes begin! The hair is linked to the dermal papilla (blood supply) during this phase, which ‘feeds’ the lash and aids its growth. Only About 35-40% of upper lashes will be in the growth phase, ensuring that you don’t lose all of your lashes at once. The anagen phase can last anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks, giving your lashes a chance to grow to their full potential.

Phase 2- Catagen (Transition) Phase:

During the Catagen phase of the eyelash growth cycle, your eyelashes have reached their full length and stop growing by shrinking and detaching. Your lashes will stay in this transition phase for about 2-3 weeks before moving to the final phase of the eyelash growth cycle.

Phase 3- Telogen (Shedding) Phase:

In this final phase, your lashes live their final days before the Anagen phase begins again. The Telogen phase lasts about 4-8 weeks. Your newly grown natural eyelashes begin to slowly fall out of the hair follicle in order to make room for new lashes. If you notice your lashes falling out, don’t worry! It’s the Telogen phase doing its thing.

Now that you have understood the cycle of your lashes and it’s normal for the eyelashes to “fall out”, come book a lash appointment with us at Refined Artistry. We are always happy to educate and beautify you!

Thank you for taking the time to read and understand your lashes a little bit more. If you want more tips like this be sure to follow us and check our blogs weekly for updated information!

Your Personal Guide to Lash Extensions

First, if you are interested in getting your first set of lash extensions, CONGRATS!!! You’re going to say goodbye to that time consuming mascara, and HELLO to never-ending, longer, thicker looking lashes!

The Lash Extension world is growing, and fast. With more and more styles and newer techniques being introduced to the beauty industry, it can be a bit intimidating whether you’re new to the lash world, or even changing up your look a little. Fear not though, because I’ve got just the tips for you to begin your lash journey. Here’s your personal guide to lash extensions.

First, if you are interested in getting your first set of lash extensions, CONGRATS!!! You’re going to say goodbye to that time consuming mascara, and HELLO to never-ending, longer, thicker looking lashes! Not to be mistaken for those DIY falsies, lash extensions bring home a whole new world. With an effortless, painless application, lash extensions are applied using a semi-permanent adhesive to each natural lash by a lash artist. Typically, they’re only applied to the upper lash line instead of the lower lash line. They can also be applied individually (Classic Set) or in fans (Volume Set). There are many many options and customizations that this treatment can offer (but we’ll get into that later). For now, you can rest assured that these babies will last you up to 6 weeks! Because the lash extensions are adhered to your natural lash. They will follow your lashes’ growth cycle which takes about 6 weeks for them to grow out again.

Now that we’ve covered what lashes are and all that good stuff, we can start looking at the different options lash artists offer. Salons offer a variety of extension material that will suit your budget, and the look you want to achieve. he material and style you choose will depend on a variety of factors which your lash artist will be happy to discuss with you when booking your appointment.

Okay, so we’ve covered what lashes are and the variety lash artists can offer you. Now we can start talking about what you should consider when choosing lash extensions. Most of these, your lash artist will go over with you if you would like help choosing a style. Otherwise you should consider your eye shape. Believe it or not there are many different types of eye shapes and this plays a key role into choosing the style you would want to go for. A couple of examples include almond, downturned, upturned, round, and protruding. The next thing you should consider is the size of your eyes, are they large, small, or in between? The orientation of your eyes also plays a factor, for example deep set, close set, or in between. You can see all of these examples in the chart provided above for your reference.

This next one, along with the shape of your eyes is so important. The quality of your lashes, and that is how strong they are able to hold the weight of the lash extension. Take a look at the volume, the curl, and the thickness of your lashes. This will all help achieve the best results in your eye look. Speaking of your eye look, have you considered the different styles you can choose from? This is my favorite part because it’s like choosing your wardrobe, but for your eyes! First you should know there are many styles from natural to glamorous and everything in between. I left some inspiration pics for reference below. However, remember about your eye shape, and the quality of your eyes. The more lashes the heavier and if your lashes are on the thinner side, know that it is still possible for you to achieve the look you want. It will be a challenge to do some looks but never a challenge we artists quit on, just something to think about before choosing any style, and this goes for everyone. Much like going to a hair salon and showing your stylist the picture of how you want your hair

to look like, they will achieve that look for you, but because everyone’s hair is different it won’t always turn out exactly like the picture. I hope this is making sense. Just know that the same works for lashes, us lash artists take in all of these considerations before applying lashes. If you want the most out of your lash appointment, consider these options carefully.  With that being said you should also be aware of any sensitivities you might have. Do you tend to have dry, watery, or itchy eyes? If so, be as transparent with your lash artist as much as possible, the last thing we want is for your appointment to be uncomfortable. Lastly you’ll need to consider your tolerance for upkeep, this will determine the lifespan of your extensions. They need to be cleaned daily and well taken care of, the more you do this the longer they last.

Well, I hope this information was helpful! Be sure to ask us any questions or concerns before or during your appointment. Be sure to follow us for more lash tips, and if you’re considering getting lashes for the first time we would love to have you!

Bye for now, and thanks for your time!

Your fav lash artist, Andrea 💗

How to Become the Best Lash Artist in Your City

In this industry technique is just as important as service if you want to attract high quality clients, keep your books full of lash appointments, and avoid burnout in the treatment room. After being a lash artist for 10+ years and making more than $100k annually, I still fall back on fundamental rules I've made for myself that help keep my business running smoothly and keep my clients AND myself happy.

Here’s an important rule to keep in mind if you want to have a thriving lash studio where clients are like family and keep returning to you because they are loyal from the professionalism and care you’ve shown them

Be honest.

It sounds so simple and obvious, right? It’s not. Sometimes as lash artists and estheticians we want to never let our clients down. We want to go above and beyond to make clients happy even if that means agreeing to or accepting a situation that we aren’t comfortable with. Quick story example: Early in my career I’ve had clients ask for extensions that their natural lashes damn sure could not support the weight of. Instead of falling back on my expertise and my gut I said to myself, “Just try it and see… maybe the client’s natural lashes will be able to hold them. You’re probably overthinking this and this look is what the client is asking for. Yeah Reagan, you can do that. ”

Absolute failure. Over time I noticed the lashes not being in their best shape which could lead to long term thinner natural lashes for her. SO instead of following my first instinct which would have been to educate the client, offer a alternative, and give her the option to choose, I jumped to immediately trying to please the client and ultimately had to backtrack which probably made me look less experienced and as if I was after money over the wellbeing of her lash health (which was not the case at all).

Clients trust us. That's why they choose us. It’s our responsibility to always be honest and upfront even if it’s not what the client wants at the moment. This will even make the client have more confidence and trust in your expertise and appreciate you being honest with them.

If you want more tips like this be sure to follow us and check our blog weekly for updated information that's free value to you! We want to see this industry continue to grow with the best, most educated service providers possible :) Thank you for taking your lash artist career seriously!

3 Tips For Full Lashes ALL THE TIME

iStock-1035488400.jpg

  1. Cleanse your lashes thoroughly before your appointment and at least every other day. I know you’re sick of hearing this but it’s really the key to flawless lashes. Oils from our skin, products we use, and makeup, break down the integrity of the bond between the natural lash and extension, causing you to lose extensions earlier than expected. If you cleanse your lashes before coming in, it adds an additional 10-15 min of more lashing time -that’s like 20 Classic lashes or 15 Volume fans! Less time spent cleaning means more time lashing!

2. Pre-Book and Pre-Pay for your appointments. I always finish adding extensions a few minutes early for clients that have to check out or schedule their next appointment at that time. Thats more time that could be spent adding lashes getting you super full.

2420385.jpg

3. This last one really hurts me to say but it might just be the most important. Placing on lash extensions is very meticulous work and as much as I love to chat it up with you, your eyelids move when speaking which makes it more difficult to apply the extensions and make sure they’re attached securely.

Girl, just shampoo your lashes.
— Reagan

The Real Reason I Got in The Lash Game (1min Read)

After 45 minutes and burning, blood shot eyes later I leave with the biggest and most uncomfortable lashes ever…

Okay, terrible story. When I was about 19 and broke I was obsessed with the new lash extension trend. I never wore any makeup and loved looking natural so I NEEDED to have lash extensions to give me a little umph. The place that I wanted to go was called Blink Lash Boutique. Couldn’t afford it. Sets were like $150+ and would be nearly my entire Spencer’s paycheck. Yes, I worked at Spencer’s. 😂

Fast forward, one day I’m getting my nails done by my girl Jenny down in University Heights. A client comes in and is like “I can’t wait for you you do my lashes today Jenny! They lasted so well!”

Okay, so in my head I’m like, “Look at God, won’t he do it!”.

The lady and I chatted about her extensions and I was set! Jenny was going to do my lashes. They were $80 and I was going to pony up the cash.

We walk around to the other side of a wall in the nail salon and she has me lie down behind a partition. I’m still excited because I’ve seen 100 YouTube videos on the process and knew I’d have to lie down under an magnifying light. She tells me to open my eyes and then immediately starts putting lashes on me! With my eyes open! Burning from the adhesive fumes!

This is wrong.

“Can you put the eyepads on me?”, I asked.

Jenny replies, “We don’t need those just keep your eyes open.”

After 45 minutes and burning, blood shot eyes later I leave with the biggest and most uncomfortable lashes ever. They tugged slowly and painfully at my natural lashes and after a week I finally pulled them off along with quite a few of my real ones! (Good thing hair grows back!)

Fast forward to a few months later I couldn't shake my interest in lash extensions- especially since I kept a pretty natural face. I didn’t wear much makeup and knew the extensions would give me the natural-looking elevation that my look needed.

I decided to try again and I went to the established, well reviewed, Blink Lash Boutique. Yes, more expensive isn’t always better but it definitely was in this case! I LOVED MY LASH EXTENSIONS!

Absolutely obsessed. My extensions were natural looking and I couldn’t feel them. At the time I was an Esthetician and asked the front desk girl, Adrianna how could I learn how to do lashes and she told me Blink hosted classes! The company that I worked for at the time, Spa & Etc, sponsored me (at this time I was 19 or 20 years old and broke and will forever be grateful to them. Literally best people I’ve ever met so look out for that story) and I took Blink’s training.

My first lash extension course with many more to follow.

I’ve been a lash baller ever since.

Have any crazy lash stories? Send them to me! I want to hear all about it.

-Reagan 🖤
